What to expect from your appointment

In-person appointments:

Your first appointment with an FSAP counselor is considered a "first assessment" appointment, during which we will listen to your concerns, ask questions, and discuss options with you.

If you are interested in ongoing counseling, we will discuss a plan for future meetings. In the event that we believe your concerns are outside the scope of our treatment model – or if you would prefer to see a provider off campus – we can refer you to community providers for care.

Appointments take place with an FSAP counselor in a private office setting, at one of our locations listed above. (Learn about how we protect your privacy during office visits.)

Individuals (or couples) engaged in ongoing counseling are eligible for up to 10 counseling sessions within a calendar year. Referrals to local providers can be made for clients who want longer term counseling.

Phone consultations appointments:

During phone consultation appointments, we will listen to your concerns, help you strategize and problem-solve, and can assist you in getting connected with resources.

Phone consultation appointments are offered for supervisors, managers, and others who are concerned about an employee or workplace situation. We can also conduct "first assessment" pre-counseling appointments by phone for those who are unable to schedule an in-person appointment. We do not provide ongoing counseling by phone.

Cancelling appointments

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance by calling 607-255-2673. We can then give your appointment time to another person seeking support.

NOTE: If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment – or fail to go to your appointment – your yearly appointment allotment of 10 sessions may be reduced (by one session per late cancellation / no show).
