NOTICE: Services update

Beginning January 20th, 2023, FSAP will be offering in-person services for individual counseling on Fridays at our main office in Collegetown. Phone and Zoom appointments continue to be available to individuals and couples who are physically located in New York State. Please visit our Services page for more details.

Scheduling an appointment

  • The best way to schedule your appointment is by phone: 607-255-2673. You can call us Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Wednesdays).
  • You may also email us (fsap@cornell.edu) if it's difficult for you to call during our business hours. However, please keep in mind that email is not a secure form of communication, and is not appropriate for confidential or sensitive information.

Types of appointments

  • Counseling appointments are 50 minutes, and are currently being conducted by Zoom video session, phone, and in-person on Fridays (available to individuals only due to physical distancing limitations)
  • Phone consultation appointments are generally 30 minutes, and are scheduled during our regular office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with an 10:00 am start on Wednesdays)

See "What to expect from your appointment" below.

What to expect from your appointment

Counseling appointments:

Your first appointment with an FSAP counselor is considered a "first assessment" appointment, during which we will listen to your concerns, ask questions, and discuss options with you.

If you are interested in ongoing counseling, we will discuss a plan for future meetings. In the event that we believe your concerns are outside the scope of our treatment model – or if you would prefer to see a provider off campus – we can refer you to community providers for care.

Individuals (or couples) engaged in ongoing counseling are eligible for up to 10 counseling sessions within a calendar year. Referrals to local providers can be made for clients who want longer term counseling.

Phone consultation appointments:

During phone consultation appointments, we will listen to your concerns, help you strategize and problem-solve, and can assist you in getting connected with resources.

Phone consultation appointments are offered for supervisors, managers, and others who are concerned about an employee or workplace situation.

Cancelling appointments

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance by calling 607-255-2673. We can then give your appointment time to another person seeking support.

NOTE: If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment – or fail to go to your appointment – your yearly appointment allotment of 10 sessions may be reduced (by one session per late cancellation / no show).
